I’m convinced of the need to help people understand human motivations, both the darkest and the most exceptional, those that some would describe as heroic and which are the result of a meeting between a situation and a personality, and then to help them manage negative impulses and develop those that are both personally and collectively useful, while respecting the individual. Managers have a wide range of these impulses at their disposal.
